Power Phonics (Phonics Fun, Level 1 - 7)
 Our innovative phonics course is developed based on the Preferred Read and Write Programme of the UK School System. This early systematic phonics programme aims to teach children between 3.5 to 6 years old 5 basic skills which are: learning the letter sounds, letter formation, blending, decoding and identifying syllables in words. The key advantages of this system are to teach children all the main letter sound, to relate the sound to build words, and therefore understand the alphabetic code used for reading and writing.
Teacher:
Ms Anita holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Psychology from York University, Toronto, Canada. A ten-year career as a lecturer for various Government - Funded Programmes and Diploma Courses at the YWCA has nurtured her other passion in teaching young children phonics and English language. In 2007, she furthered her studies in the special education spectrum and obtained a Certificate in Applied Behavourial Analysis in helping children with special education needs. Her students aged from 3 to 16 years old from local and international schools and one of them was awarded an ‘Award for Excellence’ in 2006 for being the top performing student worldwide in the City and Guilds - Young Learners Spoken English for Speakers of Other Languages. As a Maryknoll Convent School Old Girl, she believes character building of her students is as important as their academic performance.
Ms Angel has been with Power Elite for the past eights years and is one of our core teaching staff. Prior to the opening of the centre, she worked alongside Ms Anita at the YWCA where she taught spelling and phonics classes. Ms Angel has a passion for making a difference in young children’s lives and enjoys applying the techniques she acquired from the Jolly Phonics Training and Enopi Workshop to help her students develop the necessary skills for learning English. Following students’ week-by-week progress and seeing them share their enjoyment with parents is one of her most rewarding parts of teaching.
